Proper dental care is but one part of healthy living. With spring around the corner (we hope!), weโre thinking more and more about getting into shape. Yonge and Eglinton is such an exciting area with a lot to offer, especially for the fitness fiend.
Whether youโre a beginner or advanced or just looking for a way to change up your usual work out routine, youโll find something for you in our bustling neighbourhood. Check out our favourite places below.
Surfset Toronto
Surfing builds great bodies. Just look to Matthew McConaughey and Cameron Diaz for proof of that. But here in Toronto we donโt necessarily have the weather or the waves that surfing requires. Surfset brings surfing indoors. Surfboards are perched on balancing balls, mimicking unpredictable ocean waves that force you to work your core to stay afloat.
STOTT Pilates
STOTT Pilates is one of the most popular forms of the effective low impact workout. Give it a try at the Yonge and Eglinton location and youโll find knowledgeable instructors leading classes in mat work, reformer, and circuit training.
Fireflow Yoga
Stretch tired muscles, get a great workout, and finish it off with 15 minutes of mediation at Fireflow Yoga at Yonge and Eglinton. This studio is a welcoming environment for yoga newbies and offers classes customized for athletes.
Goodlife Fitness
Goodlife is located right at the corner of Yonge and Eglinton. Their facilities offer everything a good workout needs: cardio machines, weights, and even TRF equipment. Their group fitness classes are lots of fun and their personal training programs can help provide that little extra motivation some of us need.
Trek Bicycle Store [closed]
With the Beltline Trail running right through the Yonge and Eglinton area, thereโs no reason not to get outside to exercise. Get outfitted with a great bike at Trek Bicycle Store on Yonge Street, south of Eglinton Avenue. And once the season has started, theyโll take care of your tune-ups too.
Ultimate Martial Arts
Martial arts is a full body workout worth trying out if youโve never done it before. The instructors at Ultimate Martial Arts do a great job of working one on one, even if youโre in one of their group classes. If youโre nervous about trying a new work out, theyโll be sure to put you at ease. Classes teach muay thai and MMM styles. Both will build strength and provide a great cardio workout.
End your workout with a refreshing cold-pressed juice from Greenhouse Juice Co., on Yonge Street at Briar Hill Avenue. Pick one of their green juices, packed with tooth and gum friendly ingredients like kale and swiss chard, which are good sources of calcium. Try to avoid the citrus flavours that may erode tooth enamel over time.
And while youโre in the neighbourhood, book your next check-up at Yonge Eglinton Dental.
