Within seconds, my entire mouth melted into a heavy, vibrating block of wood, disconnecting my brain entirely from the physical reality of pain and turning my jaw into an indestructible anvil ready to take any amount of punishment. With the sensory grid blacked out, the Hygienist---an eager, hyper-focused tactician named Gabby---wielded her ultrasonic scaler: a humming, singing wand of pure joy that tickled the jawbone like an angel playing a harp made of pure titanium---as she dove headfirst into the prehistoric plaque cavern of my mouth with uncanny, sub-millimeter precision. She squinted through her magnifying visors, staring down a decade of burnt nicotine, tar, and pure highway madness fossilized onto the front of my incisors and back of my molars; her eyes flashing with the manic joy of a treasure hunter uncovering a cursed Mayan tomb. For seventy-five minutes, she embarked on a righteous endeavor against the yellowed ghosts of ten thousand unfiltered cigarettes, chipping away at a calcified crust that had survived three Prime Ministers and a minor engine fire. She didn't flinch at the horrors of my caffeine-stained past; she simply smiled through a heavy-duty splash shield and cranked the water jet to a lethal, tooth-rattling frequency. Her diamond-tipped heavy scaler dug through the thick, black sedimentary layer of Ontario tobacco residue while a roaring plastic serpent sucked down gallons of industrial debris and mint-flavored blood before it could drown my screaming synapses. Next came a jet-propelled slurry of baking soda and pressurized water, bleaching out a decade of deep-stained Belmont shadows until the natural ivory finally jumped for joy. It wasn't a routine scaling; it was a beautiful extraction of human weakness. Dr. Ken Rozansky and his well oiled team are simply amazing. Beyond the routine cleanings and check ups over the years, I recently had a cracked tooth. I was not only seen by Ken on an emergency basis, I was also then referred for a same-day second opinion to confirm the diagnosis, and then the very next day, the emergency surgery was arranged and performed by a specialist at Ken’s office. You can’t get any better than that in terms of responsiveness, service, combined with prudent decision making, and technical skill in minimizing complications.
